Tuco (Nick Amies) has had his first two novels published and they are now available to buy online. If you’re interested in pop culture/music-themed fiction, please take a look.
Britain 1990. While the world buzzes with the hope of real change after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the youth of the UK pin their hopes on a musical revolution to turn the tide of recession and to return the power back to the people.
For six friends from Norwich, being an active part of this revolution means everything. Too long have they danced to the sounds in tiny local clubs and watched from afar as the wave of destiny has swept across the land.
They head for the Stone Roses concert at Spike Island on the Wirral in a rented VW camper in the hope that they will all find something that is missing from their lives there. However, this journey of discovery forces the friends to face some of their darkest secrets. Instead of a hedonistic journey into the fantasy world of ecstasy-inspired togetherness, the six are forced to accept a new reality.
Britain 1994. Danny Jones emerges from a stifling three-year relationship to find out the eternal battle of the sexes is raging on a new front with completely new rules. As the country dives head first into a Cool Britannia where anything goes, Danny and his friends struggle to strike a balance between embracing the new Lad Culture of girls, goals and ‘go on my son’ with the search for authentic human connection. In a maelstrom of sex, drugs and Britpop, Danny and his mates mount an increasingly desperate search for The One – the perfect woman who can save them from themselves – while staggering ever closer towards the abyss.
The tragic death of Flowered Up’s JOE MAHER means that JOHN TUVEY, the band’s drummer, will not be appearing at CALL THE COPS on Saturday, Nov. 24 at THE LOUNGE, NORWICH as he will be attending the funeral of his friend and band mate. All of us at ECBE send our sympathies to the Maher family who have sadly lost Liam and Joe to addiction and overdose. Our thoughts are with them and with John during this difficult time.
The ECBE will be honouring Joe (and Liam) in John’s absence by packing the line-up with our very best.

If you’re in Norwich, come down for a night of Madchester mayhem and indie insanity. 3-quid. It’d be rude not to…
You’re barmy, you are…Staying out all hours…
Don’t worry, I’m not going to turn into a pumpkin am I…especially when there’s an ECBE WEEKENDER happening…
That’s right. Two nights. Two venues. Two cities.
Go out…have a good time…
For those who don’t know, PIKE and his cohort DUTCH (who together make-up the inspirationally named PIKE & DUTCH) play a load of global beats to the global freaks at the Birdcage, Norwich every month. Sometimes they do so with the mighty G-DISCO, sometimes it’s that RAVEY IAN DAVY, at others it might be the diamond geezer himself, DIAMOND HEAD . It’s a piggin’ lottery, I tell ya. But most of the time it’s P&D holding the whole mess down.
As such, PIKE has somehow found time to convert one of his sets into data and has asked the Admin monkey to slap it up. Your wish is my command…
Here’s one from warmer days…
Ravey Mr. Davy brought some sunny vibes to the Birdcage, Norwich back in May and recorded his set for posterity. So sit back, put your cans on and imagine you can feel the sun on your skin.
The ECBE’s very own DIAMOND HEAD launches the first of what will hopefully be a regular night of Northern Soul rebellion at The Bricklayers Arms, Beckenham on November 24, 2012. The Diamond Geezer will be spinning dancefloor classics from the 60s and 70s so come down and support him if you’re in the vicinity – or make a special effort if Northern Soul is your bag…and frankly, why wouldn’t it be? It could be the start of a beautiful residency so hot-step it down there and show your appreciation. The idea is to get the Diamond established there with regular guest slots from the other ECBE soul brothers and sisters planned for the future. You can help to make that happen. As well as being treated to an amazing night, you’ll get a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Trust us…you will.
PLEASE NOTE: Times are actually 8pm-11pm
